After months and months of impatiently waiting, Pi day brought forth a gift from the Gods. The fellas from Glass Chimera bestowed upon us a full blown ripper. A short but oh so sweet trip into the organized chaos that is one of Detroit’s heaviest hitters. With their physical release show slated to tear up the El Club in Southwest on April 6th they have given the world early access to the EP. Which can be found on Spotify now. Be grateful that they have graced us with an early release, as they hold back nothing on these recordings. It’s an 18 minute roller coaster of madness. The only problem that can be found is it leaves you needing more. It infects you faster than banging top shelf dope, sending you into a sonic state of euphoria. I dare you to get a taste and not be craving more. The DT’s will be in full effect, and you will have no choice but to keep it playing on a loop.
I’ve given OXIMORON extensive testing. Running it through a single ear bud (cause you know I live life in mono) from there it took a ride on the shitty speaker on my phone. Still held up, before it got the premium car ride experience, running through a more than adequate and mid range audio system with the windows down and top speeds on the road, before it got the true taste test. Running through my home audio system where the magnificence of the songs shined. I like to think the neighbors enjoyed it, as the cops failed to show up. The ultimate test in my neck of the woods. When the music is good, and blasting at high volumes from the trap they don’t call the fuzz on me.
One of the best things about these guys is how versatile and consistent they are. Whether they are bringing these tracks to the stage or the studio they sound incredible. Pure raw talent.
They incorporate so much of the musical spectrum, punk, blues, psychedelic, metal, desert fuzz, and funk. They find infectious grooves and take them over the top with class and decorum. There’s no hokiness and gimmicks to distract from the quality and originality of these sounds. All these variables coalesce into a a full blown banger.
It’s already one of the best releases I’ve heard this year, and I personally hope this is just the start of even more tunes from the Order.
From start to finish it’s just so good. It’s hard to pick a favorite track, they all hit so hard, and they flow into each other with ease it’s impossible to highlight one true standout. It’s an overall masterpiece.
